Air Freight of Electric Mini Bus

We recently managed a remarkable shipment of an electrically powered mini bus designed specifically for passenger transport at airports and train stations. The cargo was destined for Dubai, and the process involved meticulous coordination to ensure a safe and compliant transport.

The airline operating the flight required detailed information about the packaging and protective measures used to secure the vehicle during transit. It was crucial that the shipment could be safely fastened within the aircraft to prevent any damage to both the cargo and the aircraft itself.

Given that the vehicle was battery-powered, special attention was required concerning the lithium-ion battery installed in the mini bus. Air freight regulations for transporting batteries are stringent, necessitating thorough investigation into the battery type and confirmation of acceptance by the airline.

After obtaining all necessary approvals, the vehicle was collected directly from the shipper and delivered straight to the airline’s ground handling agent. To minimize the risk of damage, we opted not to route the shipment through our warehouse, reducing the number of handling steps.

Since the mini bus could not be lifted by forklift, the shipper’s engineer personally drove the vehicle into the trailer, a decision made to further mitigate potential damage. The same engineer subsequently assisted at the ground handler’s facility, where the mini bus was carefully unloaded from the trailer and positioned onto the airline’s Unit Load Device (ULD).
Following this, the shipment underwent a security clearance with a sniffer dog to confirm it was safe for air transport. The airline’s handling team then expertly secured the mini bus on the ULD, ensuring it was properly fastened for flight.

Finally, the ULD with the mini bus was transported to the aircraft stand and loaded into the plane via a high loader, ready for its journey to Dubai.
This shipment highlights our commitment to handling complex and sensitive cargo with precision and care, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency at every stage of the process.

We look forward to continuing to deliver innovative and tailored logistics solutions for our clients worldwide.
